Spike: a space between the notes.
A portrait-led listening room for cellist Spike. The live hero moves from an inky, star-strewn field into teal light, then opens a clear path into performances, story, gallery, film, and upcoming work.
The hero is a portrait study, not a generic landing page
- A full-bleed portrait composition holds Spike in shadow against a midnight-to-teal light field.
- Oversized, left-anchored typography makes the artist's name the first note; the portrait becomes the answering shape.
- Sparse stars, fine monospaced navigation, and generous negative space create a quiet listening room.
The listening room opens into the work
Performances, biography, gallery, watch, and upcoming work receive equal weight without breaking the mood. Editorial entry points lead from the portrait into programs, recordings, images, and the artist's ongoing story. The responsive system keeps the contrast, type hierarchy, and paths intact from desktop to phone.
Built for a living repertoire
The first frame works as both introduction and directory. New programs, recordings, film, press, and imagery can arrive without redesigning the experience every season. Every route returns to the same visual language, so new material expands the world instead of fragmenting it.
